I luckily found this through Ancestry.com and I'm so glad I did! I too have several relatives who came from Odrowaz, Malopolskie- my family names are Figura, Gal(l), Stafiera, Cepil (Czepiel?), and Zmuda. What I know for certain is that my maternal grandparents were Angeline Gall (born in the US April 1913) and Michael Figura (born in the US 1907). I don't have as much information on the Gall side and it's quite a mystery- Angeline's mother was named Mary Gall and did come to the US from Poland in 1911, but she was married twice to a John Gall and an Aleksander Gall (immigrated in 1902)- that's the mystery- we don't know the circumstances around this whatsoever! Another name related with the Gall side is Petin, but we really lack information. The Figura side is better- my grandfather was Michael Figura. He was the son of Jozef Figura (b. 1882 in Odrowaz, immigrated in 1902, and died in Chicago in 1954) and Bronislawa Stafiera (b. 1887 in Odrowaz, immigrated in 1904, and died in Chicago in 1966). We have Bronislawa's parents being Jan Stafiera and Zofia Zmuda, and Jozef's parents as Wincenty Figura and Anastazje Cepil (Czepiel?). I'd love to find out more information or any other connections!!!

Hi Renee!
I'm glad that you read my Odrowaz posting on Ancestry.com and followed the link here to Polish Origins! Well, we are off to a good start with your family. Recently my dear cousin Bonnie visited Odrowaz and we were able to get some more information from the church records. I did not have a chance to look through all of my info, but I’m pleased to say that we have some info for you!

Bronislawa Stafira was born 09 Mar 1887 in house #80 in Odrowaz. Her father was Jan Stafira, son of Andreas Stafira and Agentis Jasien. Bronislawa’s mother, Zofia Zmuda was the daughter of Andreas Zmuda and Regina Bielanski. I attached part of a tree for Bronislawa based on what info I had (I hope there are no typos - I'm up late writing this! LOL). I believe that you have been in touch with another cousin Oliwer, who has done much research on the Zmuda family. I bet that he can give you more information. I think you were in contact with him before we found Bronislawa's birth information.

I think that Bronislawa’s father, Jan Stafira also had a wife named Wiktoria Cieślak. Looks like Wiktoria came along after wife Zofia Zmuda. Wiktoria and Jan had at least 2 children: Jozef (born 1899) and Rosalia (born 1902) – both of these children were also born in house 80.

Your Gall family might be more difficult. Do you know for certain that they came from Odrowaz? Have you found any records in the US that provide any clues about the birthdate or birthplace of John or Aleksander Gall? There are many people interested in the Gal - Gall family, so let's create another thread for discussion about them.

I've created a thread for the Gall - Gal family here:
