The tail makes sense now. I noticed some people seem to use it on Wyrebek and some don't. Thank you for the information.

The name may have been Wyrębek. The Polish e with a tail can sound like the em sound.
Best of luck with your searches!

My grandfather came from Wach Poland in 1910, his name from what I can find was Wyrembek. I have found some people with Wyrebek within a few miles of Wach and am wondering if the two names are interchanged from the same family? My grandmother who married my grandfather Wyrembek was also from poland and she was a Topa.

From the research I have done there seems to have been quite a few Topa's from Zareby not far from Wach. I wonder if she came from there as I have found no record of her family or my grandfathers. My grandfather's name was Wiktor Wyrembek born abt. 1880 and my grandmother was Rozalia Topa born Jan 1882.

I am curious about any information on the spelling of the name and any info on either family Topa or Wyrembek. My grandfathers name has been spelled 4 different ways on various documents, but he couldn't read English and neither could my grandmother. The relatives that came here that could read both had their names spelled Wyrembek so I am taking it they had it right.
