Thank you for your suggestions and encouragement. There is some more information to go on. My grandfather had three older sisters - Stanislawa, Zofia and Franciszca, and three younger sisters - Aleksandra, Helena and Antonina. Stanislawa may have been married to a Sarjan or Serhan. According to a record found online, Zofia may have been married to an Aleksander Krasa 1917 in Biala Podlaska. Franciszca may have died young. Aleksandra's husband's name is unknown but she may have had only one child Wislaw. Helena was married to a Sgt. Deron killed in WWII. Her two daughters Barbara Deroniowa and Irena Deroniowa were schoolteachers and all were living I believe at Zielona 11, Biala Podlaska in 1968. Antonina was married to a Teofil Cacala. Their first daughter Jadwiga was born about 1932 and they were living in my grandparents old home in Wola Dubowska in 1968. My grandmother's sister Maria Jarzabkowska had a daughter whose maiden name was Wanda Brodacki. Apparently my grandmother's brother Grzegorz Jarzabkowski either owned or operated a brick factory. His children were Waclaw, Kazimierz and Zofia. Another unknown sister of my grandmother had a daughter Maria Cabaj who married a Stachyra and my uncle received a letter around 1970 from an S. Stachyra living at Dokudowska 7, Biala Podlaska.
Shellie, yes, for both questions. There is also a tool named Look for a friend, where you can type the surname you are looking as well as the name of place (always use polish characters!). You can also see who are your friend's friends, which is very useful to find even more relatives, hidden under a nickname (maiden surnames are provided for women). You can post public and private messages, and pictures, too. The bad thing, for some of us, is that there is no english version, which is no big deal, since you can use an eletronic translator to understand where to click.

Gilberto's findings are exciting! Gilberto - can you tell me - is Nasza Klasa a membership site like Facebook or MySpace? Are the people that you found there members that can be contacted through personal messages?

When I began to look for my family in Polnad, I scoured the internet for anyone with my family name and kept a list with a link to where I found the name (very helpful later when people asked how I found them).

I used Facebook, MySpace, and Geni.com to send messages to every single person with my family name. I've made some nice friends this way and have met several who are trying to find their lost relatives in USA and Canada. Even though we are not related, some of them have helped me look for my family while I help them look for theirs.

Usually I got replies from younger people, but lately there are many mature adults on Facebook. I started in waves, concentrating first in areas that I knew my family lived. Later I moved on to places outside of Poland.

Don't overlook other people in Canada with the same surname. You may be surprised what distant cousins in your own country know about the family. One of the distant cousins that I tracked down here in the USA actually had a family tree sketched out in the 1970's that included the name and address of the exact person I was searching for in Poland. Luckily she was still alive, living at the same address in my ancestral village - which turned out the be the land my family lived on for at least 6 generations.

Post your information on some other forums like the Ancestry.com message boards. Include a link back to your posting at Polish Origins so people understand you are also a member here (saves them from suggesting that you post your info here).

I also like Polish forums . com - they have a genealogy/ancestry section that is quite active and has a great deal of native Polish people who speak/write English.

Also, keep posting more info here, even if you think it is trivial. I've received so much valuable help over the years from Polish Origins members and I'm amazed at how even the most trivial piece of information can crack open a brick wall. Eventually someone who knows something about your family or your village will find you.

Best of Luck to You!

None Jarzabkowski or Jarzabkowska, neither in Biala nor in Wola.
My grandfather Kazimierz Kunka (1895-1966) and my grandmother Wladyslawa Jarzabkowska (1897-1952) were from Wola Dubowska. They and their five children emigrated to Saskatchewan, Canada in 1930. My grandmother's parents were Stefan Jarzabkowski and Karolina Brzezinska. My uncle Fr. Richard Kunka visited relatives in Wola Dubowska and Biala Podlaska around 1968. However, over the years, we have lost contact with them. The remaining Kunka daughter in Canada is hoping to reunite with Jarzabkowski or Kunka descendants in Poland.
