It is g. Grodno, actually (gubernia Grodno). So it has to be a place in that area, though I could not find it either as Lupawy or Łupawy or Supawy.
Check maps around Byalistok and Grodno in http://igrek.amzp.pl/mapindex.php?cat=WIG100
I also think Supwasy/Lupwasy and Lupawy/Supawy may refer to the same place, if the letters were "swap".

My Great grand mother Maria Malenda Karejwa travel documents state she is from Supwasy, Russia. On map quest that is very far into eastern Russia from Chraboly, Bialystok where her future husband came from. Supwasy, Russia is a far trip, more so back then in the early 1900's. On the document there is notation for Lupawy. Bialystok. f. Grodno. Can not find anything on Lupawy in Poland except a river named Lupawa.

Any thoughts?
