He served in the Polish Army, was admitted 24th June 1942 by the "Geheime Staatspolizei Regensburg" to the court prison Regensburg, book of prisoners no 519 released from there on 30th June 1942 renewed admitted to court prison Regensburg on the 16th Nov 1942 book of prisoners no 1981 released from there on 10th June 1943. He was also registed in Regensburg; employer Karl Weiss "Hoch-Teif", Burglengenfeld; was insured from may 5th 1942 until 22nd April 1945 with the "Allgemeine Ortskrankenkasse Regensburg"; was employed from 18th Jan 1943 until 12th April 1943 with the "Suddeutshe Holzverzuckerungswerke AG, Regensburg; was employed on 23rd July 1943 with Andre Buechl, Quicklime Factory, Regensburg; was medically treated in Regensburg on 19th Sept 1944. 1st Aug 1945 was registered in DP Camp Hohenfels; 14th Dec 1947 in DP Camp Hersfeld; wasregistered on 10th Nov 1948 by the IRO in Tuttlingen; was transferred on 8th March 1949 to Naples Italy for emmigration to Australia. He arrived in Australia in April 1949.
All this information is from the ITS but we don't know whether he had brothers/sisters as he emmigrated alone. Some of his papers also said that he was married so whether he was or not, who knows?
This is basically all the information we have on him from his life in Poland so would be nice if we could find out some more!

Hi,

What other clues do you have? Did your father serve in the military? Do you know the names of the DP camps? Did your father go to Australia alone? Does he have siblings?

Perhaps you can obtain some information about your family from the International Tracing Service: http://www.its-arolsen.org/en/inquiries_by_survivors_and_family_members/index.html

Did your father ever say whether his parents had siblings? If so, perhaps some of them had family that emigrated to other countries such as the US, and left a paper trail. This may increase your chances of confirming the name of your ancestral village (if it was not Vilnus). Some of my ancestors were from Vilnus, but upon further searching we found they actually lived in a small village outside Vilnus.

You might try the Facebook site that is a group of Jerzyk individuals from all over the world. Somebody might be a contact, especially a Jerxyk from Vilnius (Vilno, Wilno), Lithuania. Good luck.

Trying to research my father and his family. His name was Josef (joseph) Stanislav? Jerzyk DOB 15/3/1912 last known address before the war was in Wilno. His mothers name was Katarzyna Michalak and his fathers name was Kazimierz Jerzyk. Josef emmigrated to Australia in 1949 as a DP after the war and eventually settled in Ulverstone Tasmania. He left there in the early 70's and went to melbourne and ended up in Glenelg South Australia where he died in 1995. Any information would be helpful as I really don't know where to start.........
