Hi

I was looking for the name Salagaj as I have now only found out that I have ancestors with this name in Borowa, Mielec County. 3 x great grandparents names were: Blasius Salagaj, Katarzyna Salagaj, Mathias Salagaj and Agnieska Mazurowna.

Best regards
I thought it'd be easy but was only recently able to actually confirm I had right surname when I hired a researcher to go digging for me in Przemysl being that it was my gg-grandmother's maiden name (married months before she immigrated) and there were a few variations/interpretations on the records of their children born in Canada
YAY that on her husband's Naturalization papers did they include her village of Rzeplin, Jaroslaw

From what i can see on an map of Surnames taken a while ago, Sałamaj is also a rare Surname in Poland. At the time is states 225 in Poland and Sałagaj is only at 96. Maybe they are even way back the same with either spelling being a mistake in some records that never got changed. There is even a Saładaj family. Im sure it being not common will make it easier to locate information, especially if you can access the Church books of your Sałamaj's.

Is there anyone here who has any relation or maybe bears the surname Sałagaj itself in relation to the following areas:

Gliny Wielkie
Sadkowa Góra

Gmina Borowa, Mielec , now in Podkarpackie

It is not a common surname in Poland and seems to have a high concentration in these Villages and Towns of Mielec. There is many under the name of Salagaj in the USA so if this sounds familiar to you, the let me know.
