Szczap; Szczep; Szczepiński from old Polish szczepa - piece of wood which came off a tree, also szczepić - "to graft" or in some cases Szczepan - given name.

I am currently researching the family surname "Szczepinski" I have last found relatives located in 1858 in Nowa Cerkiew, Tczewski, Pomorskie. Interested in hearing from anyone with information of the name or town.
