Richard,

As you wrote there are three different Nowa Cerkiew in Pomerania, plus one Nowa Cerekwia Silesia (also old German Neukirch, or translated from Polish "New Orthodox church"):

- Nowa Cerkiew, Chojnice county, Chojnice borough
- Nowa Cerkiew, Tczew county, Morzeszczyn borough
- Nowa Cerkiew, Nowy Dwór Gdański county, Ostaszewo borough
- Nowa Cerekwia, Glupczye county, Kietrz borough

Click below for maps and direction of all four:

http://tinyurl.com/btdbeu
http://tinyurl.com/crhypq
And Silesian: http://tinyurl.com/c6pyma

If your gggrandfather was from "Neukirch bei Stargard" it is most probably the Nowa Cerkiew, Tczew county, Morzeszczyn borough located the nearest to Stargard Gdanski, about 12 miles only ( map: http://tinyurl.com/d952vg )

In 19th century in this Nowa Cerkiew there was a catholic church and parish seat.

Hope it helps a little

I am currently researching the surname Szczepinski. Records I have found on "Pomorskie Towarzystwo Genealogiczne" indicate the last known location of my gggrandfather to be "Neukirch bei Stargard" which I researched to be "Nowa Cerkiew" Checking for film on LDS -http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library/fhlcatalog/supermainframeset.asp?display=localityhitlist&columns=*%2C0%2C0&PLACE=nowa+cerkiew&PARTOF=&prePLACE=nowa+cerkiew&prePARTOF= - there are 3 "Nowa Cerkiew" listed. I am quite sure that "Nowa Cerkiew (Nowy Dwor Gdanski)" is the proper one for me to research in. However, when I google the same information I get "Nowa Cerkiew (Tczew)" Are these two places the same or in close proximity to one another? Any advice appreciated. I have been able to find my ggrandfathers birth record (Thomas Szczepinski b. 2 Dec 1864 Nowa Cerkiew) but not having any luck with his fathers info. I did find Jacob Szczepinski m. 1858 to Marianna Glenska but no other leads. Any help locating info will be greatly appreciated. Hope I haven't confused the issue too much!
dziekuje
