If you look at the source of the information on Ancestry, it is referencing the information at familysearch.org.

You are amazing! I found the Tarnow Records on Ancestry.com Does the LDS Family History Library have the same records?

Hi Polishmom,

When you say that you found those items in Tarnów records, what do you mean? Perhaps on the LDS site? I happen to have family from that area and have some records. With a quick scan, it turns out I found the specific record of Władysław Loraj. He was born 3 Jan 1892 and was christened on 10 Jan 1892 parents were Wawrzyniec son of Jozef and Marianna (Chłopek) and Magdalena Biedak daughter of Adam and Tekla (Król). It is noted that he died a few months later on 7 Nov 1892. There is also a note about Żelichów which is another village nearby. I'm not exactly sure what the note says, but I'll try and upload a scan of the record tomorrow. Perhaps someone on this forum can better help with exact details.

I also found the record for Katarzyna who was born 26 Oct 1896 and was christened the same day. She has the same notes as above. I can't find any of the other children you mention so I think they probably lived in a nearby village, perhaps Żelichów and these children were only born in Otfinów for some reason. Katarzyna also died young on 27 Nov 1896.

These are specifically recorded in the record books of Otfinów, not Olesno.

I would suggest borrowing the films for this area from LDS and you'll be able to view these records at your local family history library.

I am looking for information on the surname Loraj and Biedak. I do know that they came from Olesno. The father name is Jozef Wawrzyniec wife Magdalena Biedak. Children are Johanna born 1887, Julianna born 1890, Agnieszka born 1893 and Wiktorya born 1898 all coming through New York and settling in Chicago, Illinois. I recently found in Tarnow records a son and daughter. Ladislaus born 1892 and christened 10 Jan 1892 Otfinow, Otfinow, Krakow. Catherina born 1896 and christened on 26 Nov 1896 in Otfinow, Otfinow, Krakow. I know little about their life in Olesno.

Daughter Julianna married Daniel Poremba in Chicago, Illinois. Daniel Poremba's family comes from Jaslo, Rzeszowskiego, Poland.

Magdalena Biedak had a sister named Katarzyna Biedak who married Jozef Jan Reszek from Ropczyce, Rzeszow, Poland they married in Chicago.

Johanna married my great grandfather Wladyslaw J. Niewinski from Wyszki, Poland. They married and lived in Chicago.

Jan Hasiawa came from Olkusz, Katowice, Poland. He lived and married my great grandmother Regina Theresa Tomek in Chicago. I know nothing else about him.

Jan Wasilewski death certificate (Chicago) only said he came from Poland.
His wife Rozalia Reis death certificate also say Poland. Theses two are a mystery to me.

I hope someone can help me with information on where I should look.
