I have received much assistance from the generous people on this site. I would like to be able to contribute in some small way. My skills as a translator are naught...but I have been trying to educate myself regarding all the extant resources in Poland.

For Christmas I requested and received a book in which I knew many of my forbears would be mentioned. There is an alphabetical index of both surnames and village (town) names.

***The record is of LANDOWNERS and the ONLY areas covered are in the following dioceses: Gniezno, Chelm, Krakow, Plock, Poznan and Włocławska

The data was collected by questionnaires which were sent out to the parish priests; In each parish the individual villages and their owners are listed. Christian names are not given. Titles are noted when applicable.

Hopefully, this just might pinpoint an area for further study as some of you are out there wondering "just exactly where in Poland was grandpa's name found at the time? "
