Bob, this is a great resource! I already see a few parishes from this region that I'd been hoping to look for eventually--this is a nice find. Thank you.

It only recently occurred to me, that I should do this for my own purposes with towns that I'm researching. For instance, I found my great grandfather's birth record in Rogowo but did not know any other relatives on that microfilm roll at the time. It's only now, after the roll has been sent back, that it have found others I'd like to look for there. Had I captured images of the indexes, I'd know whether or not it was worthwhile to reorder that film.

Sharing the index pages here would only help if others are researching the same towns, of course, but if enough people start posting them the resource might grow in usefulness.

That is a great example. Another good reason to save and share them is that even for the wonderful Mlawa archives images, one has to download the whole year or hunt and peck for the few images in each year that contain the birth, marriage, and death index pages. I finally just started using a batch downloader and saving everything. Even for towns that are already provided by the archives, if we just identified which image numbers for each year are the index pages, it would save folks heaps of downloading time.

Maybe a simple start would be just to post here when anyone has a bundle of index pages available to share with others upon request?

As far as I know scanned records available in Geneteka and Metryki are being indexed by volunteers.
For instance, Szrensk: http://geneteka.genealodzy.pl/plany.php?wo=MZ

Yes, that's true--I guess my thinking was that if any other people here on the forum are saving index pages for their parishes of interest, they might be worth sharing. For example, one ancestor's marriage record says she was born in a particular parish. I ordered the films and waited several weeks. It turns out there is no trace of the family there, so it must be a different parish with a similar name. If I could peruse the priests' handwritten, annual indexes for various parishes (most of the ones I now need are not yet online), then I could quickly determine whether my family surnames were in that parish. I hope that makes sense. Another example: another ancestor was born in Strubiny. There are three Strubiny villages in Poland, and two are very close to each other. If I could get a peek at those indexes, I would know which films to order. I already ordered one set that turned out to be the wrong place.

I guess for now, I will just say that I have all the priests' handwritten, annual indexes for birth, marriage, and death for Szrensk, and that I can send them in a zip file to anyone who wants to look through them. I'll try to do the same for Ciechanow when I get those films soon. Our library imager is very clunky. If anyone has already extracted the annual, handwritten index images for Ciechanow, I would be very grateful to have those.

All the best and thanks for the kind response--this is a very friendly and helpful board! I am grateful for all the resources here.
It is wonderful that the Mława archives are so thorough and available. I've downloaded almost all the images from Szreńsk and have been extracting images that contain the handwritten birth, marriage, and death indexes for each year. I am sure others are doing the same thing when they are heavily interested in one place. Maybe people are even saving images of the indexes from microfilms they order. If so, is there a place to share them with each other? I have Szreńsk to share, and would really like to see them from other places that are only available on microfilm. Thanks!

Hello all, our family finally broke through a decades-old brick wall in the U.S. and are now researching in Mława area. Thanks!
