It could be Josch, which written by Polish scibe gives Josz. I see 212 names in Germany

Even though there are a few Josz families in Poland, and I can go back to 1770 in research, I'm beginning to think it is not Polish "really." Any suggestions of where I could look since I have run out of church records with the 1770 people?
