Our family history(legend) was passed down from one generation to another generation. According to it, our Jewish ancestors were brought from Zilina,Slovakia to Lithuania by crusaders by force. So our ancestors had adopted the surname Zhilin and set up their village Zilinai(Zhilins). So the village Zilinai is mentioned in the description of crusaders ways of the 14th century. Later the surname Zhilin was lithuanized as Zilinskas(Zylinski,Zhilinsky),Zilionis, and Zilenas. In 1495, our ancestors were expelled from Lithuania due to their Jewishnes, but they did careers in Russia. Some of them have returned to Lithuania and Poland. Dvorenins(landlords) Zhilinsky and Zhilin are described in www.vgd.ru (alfavitny spisok family) in Russian and English languages. Also you can see "Origin of dvorenins Zhilinsky and Zhilin" on google.com. My family tree starts from Sergey Zhilin, who was rewarded with the estate by the Tsar in 1684. The most prominent member of our family was the field marshal Yakov Zhilinsky (1853-1918). His photo and biography in wikipedia.
There are two online articles about John Zylinski:
"Ealing's Polish prince to unveil 30ft gold horseman statue",
"Prince John Zylinski monarchy forum".
