IIRC the word nobile or nobiles written before the name not always means that person belonged to szlachta. If somebody would be considered as szlachta, he had to have a papers claiming that. Its same situation with -ski or -cki endings. Having those in the surname may mean nothing if your ancestrors didnt have the papers. In smaller towns/villages, being called nobile/s in parish document would also mean high status in the village, probably having large possessions. I know the subject is tempting, but before any judging, its always good that some professsional at nobiles subject who would check your parish records. Lets gather first, as many records as you can, there is quite possibility that one of your ancestor was belonged to szlachta. If so, this line of tree must be recorded somewhere, in old books, herbarze, nobilities censuses, or so.

Edit:
Here we go. List of szlachta wileńska http://genealogia.lt/pdfs/szlachta_wilenska.pdf and Fronckiewicz/Frąckiewicz example tree http://www.genealogia.okiem.pl/genealogia.php?n=frackiewicz Dig your branch tree as much as the records are available, maybe you will find a connection.

Just curious not a monumental question by any means but I had two different folks translate the same Russian language baptism record (one was POvery own Ryszard the other a reputable translator). The difference was one called my 3rd great grandfathers status as gentry to other a nobleman: are these interchangeable? (I know very little about Polish nobility) Or is there a difference??

Thanks to all that can help.
