That's right, "patrini" is "godparents", or literally (as I found online) "little parents".

                                      I would agree with you , that Patrini is godparents.

I don't know Latin, but all baptism records I've obtained, included godparents names along with witness' names. Hopefully you can get a translation.

I know that others on this forum have asked about translations of Latin, but I don't know of any recommendations yet.

The names beneath are the parents names, with the surname of the mother.

ie: my grandparents are Frank Cybulski and Mary Cybulski nee Witkowski.
Witkowski being my grandmothers maiden name.

On certain documents that are about a Cybulski family member, the info would be written as;
Frank and Mary Witkowski, or nee Witkowski.

It is understood that the fathers surname is the same as the person the document is about. So when the mothers name is given, it usually reflects her maiden name also.

Hope this helps.
Hi Zenon,

I'm struggling to decipher who is listed beneath Balbina's parents (Josephus Kotas and Catharina Kasiak) in this Polish certificate of baptism. Would this be the Godparents of Josephus and Godparents of Catharina? I realize it is in Polish and Latin but still cannot understand who the Zielonka and Krupska couples are. Are they supposed to be the parents of Josephus and Catharina? If so, Josephus' father would be a Kotas, not a Zielonka. Have you seen this before? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again,
