Lusławice is a tiny village near Zakliczyn nad Dunajcem (Zakliczyn near the Dunajec river). Even though my family was not from this village, they lived there for a few years and this was my grandfather’s birthplace.

I was lucky enough to find his birth record in the LDS family history center microfilm
FHL INTL Film 2089323 Item 8 and film 2084224 Item 4 & 5:
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library/fhlcatalog/supermainframeset.asp?display=topicdetails&subject=616604&subject_disp=Poland%2C+Krak%26%23xf3%3Bw%2C+Zakliczyn+%28Brzesko%29+%2D+Church+records&columns=*,0,0

Other villages near Lusławice also have church records in these films. They include:
Faściszowa
Kończiska
Janowice
Zakliczyn
Wróblowice

Also located in the same parish (and on the same microfilm), but further away from Luslawice are the villages of
Bieśnik
Gierowa
Łukowa
Podbrzezie
Słona
Stróże
Wola Stróżka
Wesołów
Zdonia
Ujazd

I have attached some photos of Luslawice from my visit in 2009. As you can see, the terrain is rather flat and farming seems to be quite common here.

Good question! In my case, the Osieckis go back many generations in Luslawice. This would explain the reason why they stayed there until they came to America in the early 20th century. I know my great-great grandmother worked as a servant on an estate in/around Luslawice. I've been told that my great-grandfather (her son) as an adult was a farmer, as were many in that area. My grandmother's mother's family, the Novak and Koza families, came from nearby Konczyska. Again, I THINK they were farmers. Is it possible that back in the 1800's this area was a good area to farm?

My grandfather Tad Kulawiak and his sister Janina Kulawiak were born in Lusalwice in 1908 and 1911. My family lived in this village for several years, but I don't know why they lived there because they were from Odrowaz, which is about 60 miles to the south. There does not seem to be much in that village that would draw a family to move there. Does anyone know if there was a mine or some other industry near by that may have attracted my family to move there?

There is more than one village called Lusławice in Poland. This village is located about 42 miles (68 km) east of Krakow in the administrative district Gmina Zakliczyn, within Tarnów County, in Malopolskie (lesser Poland) southern Poland. The latest population size was 920.
According to Wikipedia,
