Inglot means "strong angel". Other countries have variations of this as in Engelhardt in German and Iglesi in Italian, etc.

Thanks for the information. My husband's family did come from that area of Poland in the early 1900's. The origin of the name is new information that we had never heard before.

There no people in Poland bearing surnames Ingut or Inglut. There are almost 1900 using surname Inglot

Inglot is in the group of surnames originating from the German name Ingel, or from the Ing "a member of the Ingewean tribe"
