Is there a way to obtain digital images from PGSA of indexed records? Do you have to become a member for that? I am curious and looking to obtain these records from PGSA. Thanks!

Nick,

The PGSA does not house the records which were indexed by the volunteers. If you follow the link Tom provided and click on “About PGSA” on the sidebar, you’ll see that the society is not a repository for records. The society uses space in the PRCUA headquarters on Milwaukee Ave. Meetings are held there and/or in several suburban public libraries. The volunteers can access some records held in the PRCUA museum and archives (Obits from the Chicagoski (which was affiliated with the PRCUA), PRCUA insurance claims, Chicago Parish Jubilee Books etc.) but if you order a copy of such records you will get a photo copy of the document. The materials are not digitized. You don't have to be a member to order copies of documents, although the cost for members is lower than for nonmembers.

The museum does have a library which contains quite a few books related to Polish history and culture, especially in America. It may be worth your while to check out the museum and library if that would work with your schedule. Many moons ago (like the early 60s) I used the library to do research for history term papers. The great advantage was that by choosing a Polish-related topic the materials were more available than were materials related to more popular history topics. There was little chance that the necessary books would have been checked out. That, of course, was not always the case in the school library and in the Chicago Public Library.

Wishing you success,

Given that you live in the same city as the PGSA headquarters , why not contact them direct ?
