Post subject: Looking for Mietkiewicz family
My mother was born in Poland , she came to Australia as a displaced person after ww2.
She left behind her family , 4 or 5 brothers I think and a sister as well as her parents.
I have all this family I have never known and I would very much like to see if I could find some of them.
My mother did not talk much about her family or home , I think she wanted to put the war behind her.
I don't have much information ,but any help would be very much appreciated.
My mothers name - Teresa Mietkiewicz
Date of birth - 13 April 1927
Birth place - Wilczewo , province Pomorze
Father's name - Antony
They may have had a farm in Suszewo.
I hope this helps , and hope someone can help me.
Kind Regards

Hi,
I could situate two villages and find corresponding parish. Also digged general information for the name Mietkiekicz.
By rule, you cannot have an open access to anything less than 100 years old, circa 1912 today.
First, your name:
1. Mietkiewicz
http://www.moikrewni.pl/mapa/kompletny/mietkiewicz.html
12 answers in today population.
2. Miętkiewicz
http://www.moikrewni.pl/mapa/kompletny/mi%25C4%2599tkiewicz.html
1185 answers
I think the original writing, Polish one, was with diacritic "e ogonek".
Second, geography:
It is extremely precious you know both villages, because otherwise we would have several ambiguities.
Your villages are:
Suszewo, Lipno County, Poland
and
Wilczewo, Golub-Dobrzyń County, Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland
It is East of Torun.
But Wilczewo is not within parish of Torun, neither within Golub-Dobrzyń
Its parish is Dulsk, and luckilly, it is an old one, see below.
Third, I checked Dulsk in National Archives:
http://szukajwarchiwach.pl/search?q=Dulsk
Got 15 answers, many years, but not all.
Collection: 514/37/0 Akta metrykalne parafii rzymskokatolickiej w Dulsku
No one is with scans. That could serve to confirm your genealogy beyond 1912, older than one hundred years.
My advice would be to write - email - to the parish Dulsk, give your explanations, ask you are looking for your Mother birth records, her filiation, and her sibillings.
To be clear: you are the only one who can get information about records less than one hundred years, you have to demonstrate your family relations. No middlemen. We can help to put your request in Polish, in case you wish post it in English and in Polish to the parish.
Bonne chance!
