Post subject: Forced Labour In Poland
Good morning,
This photograph was sent to my Polish ancestors some time in the late 1930's or early 1940's showing a group of four men - my uncle Frank is second left. He, and others, were sent into forced labour for one reason or another. His family came from the Wysoka, Wadowice, Krakow area. Can anyone translate, into English, the note?
I am also seeking any history / information / photographs on the village of Wysoka and what role it played in both world wars. In addition are there any civil / church records available eg: birth, marriage, death, census, village population name list etc?
Thank you for your assistance,
Henry

Na pamiątkę Małemu Józiowi zasyła z niewoli
Froonek
Souvenir for the Little Józio sent from captivity
Froonek
[seems to be a kind of onomatopoeia based on the first name Franek ; frrruu is used to say a bird is flying; guessing Franek - Froonek flew away]

This shows two POW named Franciszek Korzeniowski from Wysoka, one born 1910/08/31 (5 entries, each a bit different) and the other 1915/08/29. The record for the latter states he was released to do forced labour:
DANE OSOBOWE
nazwisko KORZENIOWSKI imię Franciszek
data urodzenia 1915-08-29 miejsce urodzenia Wysoka
INFORMACJE O PRZEŚLADOWANIACH
Źródło: Polski Czerwony Krzyż
stopień wojskowy strzelec
jeniec wojenny
przeniesiony na status robotnika cywilnego Tak
dodatkowe informacje strzelec, piechota, Stalag XVII-A, nr jenca 1152, Stalag VI-B-daty brak, zwolniony na roboty cywilne/ daty brak/
As the record for the first indicates he was released from POW Camp, perhaps he also did forced labour.
