does anyone know the original translation of Yashinovitz, or anything about it. there's virtually none in america and out of the few we know of i'm the only son able to carry the name.

I would transcribe your 'Yashinovitz' into Polish spelling as 'Jasinowicz' or 'Jasienowicz'. These surnames derive from Polish jasion, jesion - "ash tree".

There are not too many people who bear Jasinowicz surname, only 33 - see map: https://nazwiska-polskie.pl/Jasinowicz . And there are a little more using Jasienowicz surname - 88, map: https://nazwiska-polskie.pl/Jasienowicz .
