Hi
My first post, tried to post just now but it seems to have disappeared.
Am travelling to Poland tomorrow, going to to Bobrek, Bytom one day next week. I know my father was born there in 1914, so the question I have, is there any way I can locate the church he would have been baptised in?
Thanks

Telly,

Which Bytom? Which Bobrek? Both names appears for three different places.
"born there" means Bobrek or means Bytom?

Thanks for replying.

I have a copy abbreviated birth certificate dated 1950. The English translation reads birth at 'Bobrek Karb, county Bytom.' The original polish copy reads 'Bobrku-Karbie, powiat Bytom' The birth was registered 12 April 1914. At the top of the translation it reads Palatinate Silesia Dabrowa, County Bytom. Civil Registry Bobrek-Karb No. 135/1914. The original Polish reads 'Wojewodztwo Sl-D.browskie. Powiat Bytom. It also reads Bobrek-Karb on the original Polish. If I had time I would scan.
Please note that it has been translated by a certified translator who was a Foreign Law Consultant and Translator.
My first search of the internet found a Bobrek, but was not near Bytom. So I therefore searched for Bytom, then found a Bobrek close by. I hope this is the right one as I'm going there on Tuesday. Is there another possibility? I am flying out today, will check on line to see if there are any updates.
Thanks for any information.
Regards

Telly,

The Polish wiki is explicit

Since 1951 it is part of Bytom.

A little more here, still in Polish, history going back to 1369

Your original Polish copy is correct.
I do hope your translations is correct as well, no matter translator was lawyer or not, provided he had a little knowledge in history in that part of Europe.
