Polish Genealogy Databases tool - Practical hints
- Sometimes Google translates the original meaning of surnames or places; for example, Piątkowa (a village name) - Friday, Nowak (one of the most popular surnames in Poland) - Smith, Zięba (surname, but also a bird) - chaffinch. To avoid such misunderstandings, we suggest placing cursor over the translated word to see "Original Polish text", looking for your original search term, and then "replacing" the translated text by comparing the Polish (original) and English versions.
- If the results page is long, with a large amount of content, and you are not able to find your keyword, try using the key combination "ctrl+f" to bring up a "find what" search box, enter your keyword, and then click enter.
