Jeff has given me permission to quote our private messages exchange. Maybe there is, or will be in the future, someone else interested in Czudec records research or have her or his own in research experience in Czudec parish.

I have noticed that one of the places you are interested in is Czudec. I know this little town very well because my mother and our ancestors come from Pstragowa village, which belongs to Czudec borough. I had spent there most of my vacations at grandma's house when I was a kid..

Hi Zenon! I'm very excited to hear that you are familiar with Czudec. This is the town my grandfather came from before he immigrated to the United States.
I wonder if you can offer some advice regarding researching records for this parish? I have hired two different researchers in the past and it seems the priest of the Czudec parish is quite uncooperative about letting researchers have access to the records. Is there a local or state archive that I could have searched which might contain copies of the Czudec parish records?
I have already searched the LDS catalog here in the U.S.A. without finding the records.
Thanks!
Jeff

Jeff,

Have you tried in State Archives in Rzeszow? As you can see, click here: http://tinyurl.com/ajmxfw they have some records from Czudec. Do you know when your grandfather emigrated and how old he was?

Hi Zenon,

Thanks so much for the information! I haven't checked in the State Archives yet, but I definitely will.

Okay, assuming that I find the State Archive has records that could be useful, how does one access those records?

Does one request a search by State Archive personnel? If so, how is this done? or does one hire a researcher to visit the actual archives?

Jeff,

You can request search to be performed by State Archives personnel - I highly recommend you then to read James' article: "Remote" research in Polish State Archives - practical hints..

Excellent reference document..thanks Zenon.
I assume that I would write to the branch of State Archives which is located nearest to the village/parish where the event occurred?

As I wrote you before some records from Czudec parish are stored in Rzeszow branch of State Archives, click here for details: http://tinyurl.com/ajmxfw . Their address, including website and e-mail you will find by clicking 'more' in the page above, e.g.: http://bit.ly/AFnzS .

Good luck Exclamation
