Forgive me in advance if this is long winded. I am researching the Kałuża family. Our family history indicates that my Great Grandfather, Jan Mikolaj Kaluza (1874-1944) originated from Jagodniki, Tarnow and his wife Marianna Kogut (1878-1953) from Wietrzychowice area. My goal is to confirm their existence in either of these place so that I might have a "foothold" in Poland. I have reviewed literally hundreds of entries in church records across all of Polonia over hundreds of years, but cannot seem to find the "rock" I am looking for.

If anyone has information or would like to collaborate, please contact me at

[email protected]

dziękuję,

John Kalusa (Kaluza)

Jagodniki is a village about 10 km northwest of Wietrzychowice and about 30 km northwest of Tarnów. See Google map (50.1993,20.6901 (Jagodniki)). It is in Wietrzychowice parish. There are LDS records:

Kopie księg metrykalnych, 1798-1870
Author: Kościół rzymsko-katolicki. Parafja Wietrzychowice (Dąbrowa Tarnowska)

Księgi metrykalne, 1777-1915
Author: Kościół rzymsko-katolicki. Parafja Wietrzychowice (Dąbrowa Tarnowska)

Henryk, thank you very much for this information, it is the clarity I needed! I wonder if you would have similar information for Lisia Gora? I know there is a small parish by that name, but cannot seem to find the right Parish in the archives.

On this site are listed three researchers of the parish. They can be contacted through that site (free registration).
