Post subject: Software Help - optical character recognition
Hi, does anybody know how to convert a jpeg image to a PDF or other useable software (MS Word,...) so that I can copy/paste the words???
Thanks in advance,
Larry

I know there are probably a lot of different ways. I think Microsoft Office has an optical character recognition (OCR) feature, but I have never used it.
But what I do is use Adobe Acrobat (not Acrobat Reader). I create a pdf file out of an existing file, then use Acrobat's "Recognize Text" function to parse the file and recognize all the text. The advantage of using Acrobat, is that you can recognize text in a lot of different languages...including Polish, Latin, German, etc.
Then you can copy any of the text on the page and paste it into Word.
Of course, sometimes it doesn't recognize it perfectly, but it works, and you are also left with a pdf file that can be searched.

Thank you very much, I'll call Adobe and get the software that is needed. I just finished retyping the posted response from the LatinTranslation and it took me forever.
Again, thank you

I bought some OCR software and it works great. But, you still have to proof read the data. That is a lot better than retyping the documents.
Thanks to all,
Larry
