Hello, I am looking for anyone named Czerniak in Skulsk Poland. My great grandfather, Joseph Charles Czerniak left prior to WWI and lived in Calumet City Illinois USA near Chicago Illinois USA.

My great aunts, Josephs daughters, passed on to me that shortly after WWII the Czerniak family of Skulsk would send letters to my Great Grandfather asking for assistance.

Thanks! James Czerniak

Hello, it hard to find info about Czerniak family in Skulsk. I found only two people with this surname on popular polish social site that live in Łuszczewo which is 3 miles from Skulsk.

I ran across this, it was posted at Genealodzy.PLGenealogia:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Witam serdecznie,

Ja jestem z Bydgoszczy i mam na cmentarzu w
Skulsku k. Konina pradziadków.
Nie bardzo mogę dotrzeć do kancelarii parafialnej
w godzinach urzędowania, a
urwał mi się "trop" moich poszukiwań. Poza tym
chciałbym wiedzieć czy nie trzeba czasem opłacić
tych kwater bo nie mam kontaktu z tą częścią
rodziny, która tam kiedyś zamieszkiwała.

Mam gorącą prośbę czy Ktoś mógłby pomóc w
dotarciu do tych ksiąg cmentarnych? Pokryję koszty
z nawiązką, po prostu nie mam jak tam fizycznie
dotrzeć.

Dziękuję za przeczytanie i pozdrawiam,
Jacek

Using Google translate, it looks like Jacek is looking for information about his Konin grandparents in the Skulsk cememtery. MAYBE his Czerniak ancestors were also from Skulsk. You might want to ask him in an e-mail. I would suggest writing in Polish.

Hi James...

Czerniak is actually a pretty common name both in Poland and the US. While she wasn't related, I had a Marie Czerniak that served as Godmother to one of my Bejenka family members in 1899 in Chicago.
