i noticed that on polish sites; no surname had kal in them; but on jewish sites they had kalski on more than one sit; i would appreciate it if anyone had any information on my surname.

I believe You misinterpret "Jan Kalski" as surname, while in reality it is name with surname. Whatsmore, Jan Kalski was a nick for a man whos real name was Witold Bieńkowski https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Witold_Bie%C5%84kowski . He was helping Jews during WWII. It's interesting there is no Jankalski surname on moikrewni site (so in Poland). I might have an idea, that this was given surname in memory of Witold Bieńkowski, maybe one person that escaped to USA took his nick. It of course also might be irrevelant to him, just accidental similarity, it needs more research.
