Hello Faye,
I see there are 2 towns in Poland named "Chomiaza"
1) Poland, Opole, Chomiąża (Głubczyce)
2) Poland, Bydgoszcz, Chomiąża Szlachecka (Żnin)
The Mormon/LatterDaySaints have Catholic Birth/Wedding/Death records for both towns available, but they are on Microfilm rolls and not searchable online through the Mormon/LDS website.
1) Poland, Opole, Chomiąża (Głubczyce)
This city may have previously been called "Komeise, Schlesien, Germany" when Germany owned/occupied it. Here is the link to the Microfilm (4 rolls of film) that have records for years 1851 - 1946.
https://familysearch.org/search/catalog/1008809#?availability=Family%20History%20Library
2) Poland, Bydgoszcz, Chomiąża Szlachecka (Żnin)
This city may have previously been called "Komsdorf, Posen, Germany" when Germany owned/occupied it. Here is the link to the Microfilm (2 rolls of film) that have records for years 1793 - 1960:
https://familysearch.org/search/catalog/736824#?availability=Family%20History%20Library
If your father (Jan) was born in Chomiaza, then you should start by looking for a record of his birth (and see Stefan and Zofia listed as his parents). Then, look for Marriage/Banns records for Stefan & Zofia (it is likely 1-3 years BEFORE the birth of the eldest child). If you find the marriage record, it will have the names of their parents, and might say which towns they were from.
The Microfilms MUST be browsed at one of the Mormon/LDS "Family History Centers", not browsed at just any local library or at home. To find the nearest FHC to you, go to this site:
https://familysearch.org/locations/centerlocator
Enter your country/city in the SEARCH bar to find the nearest FHC. When I entered "Stonebroom", I see 3 centers (Mansfield, Nottingham, Sheffield).
Here is some contact information for the Mansfield center:
Southridge Drive
MANSFIELD
UNITED KINGDOM
+44 0 162-366 2333
And here is information for the Nottingham center:
Stanhome Square
NOTTINGHAM, NG2 7GF
UNITED KINGDOM
+44 0 115-923 3856
Hours: Tues, Wed, Thurs 10am-1pm; Wed 6pm-9pm; Thur 6.30pm-9pm; Fri 11am-1.30pm.
Maybe someone else can reply with other "online/available" resouces, or you can try using the GERMAN names of the town to find additional online resources.

Booby,
Unless rules have changed in the last two years, in the USA public libraries in some major cities have an agreement with Salt Lake, so that films can be rent and viewed at the library. For instance, Chicago (Newberry) and St. Louis, among others.

Gilberto, thank you, I did not know about public library loan. If you know of a URL/webpage that has the list of public libraries they will loan/ship the microfilm rolls to, please post it.
Thank you,
Booby
