Hi Everyone
I'm new to this site!
My father's family is the Fus family from Zolynia, Poland. I don't know anything about the family except my father had 2 sisters and 4 or 5 brothers. His name was Leon Henryk Fus. He immigrated to Canada after the war. I don't speak much Polish so doing research has been difficult. I know the year he was born and very little else. Can someone give me some leads in terms of research? I do have a photo but there are no notes on it.
Thanks

Barbara,

Canada immigration records:
http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/genealogy/022-908.003-e.html

Four Fus family members still live in Zolynia, according to the social network Nasza Klasa. Hard to say if related to yours Fus, since I don't know if the name is common or not.

Hello, do you Barbara have more information about Your father? What war he immigrated after? The first or second? What were names of his parents? Estimated date of birth? It would be easy to find ancestors of your father, Żołynia records are available on szukajwarchiwach site - right now its 1890-1901 range, but will be up to 1911 in the future most probably.

Hi Sirdan
My Father was born March 26, 1906….he immigrated to Canada about 1948 and then married. I don't know the name of his father for sure but I wonder if it was Jan.
What kinds of records are available on that site? I'm so excited!
Thanks
B

Hi again, here are some scans of Żołynia records http://www.szukajwarchiwach.pl/59/1247/0/?q=%C5%BCo%C5%82ynia+XSKANro:t&wynik=1&rpp=15&page=1#tabJednostki You can preliminary look for Fus names, i saw one for example: Anna Fus birth record. I believe that more will be added in 2015 (now you see them as unit with 0 scans). The bad luck is that in Rzeszów archive http://baza.archiwa.gov.pl/sezam/pradziad.php?l=pl&miejscowosc=%BFo%B3ynia&gmina=&wojewodztwo_id=0&wyznanie_id=0&rodzajaktu_id=0&search=szukaj there are no birth records rom 1906. This makes things more difficult. Anyway, you can ask in archive about records by sending email here: [email protected] or send a letter to church in Żołynia - adress: ul. Mickiewicza 66, 37-110 Żołynia

Hi Sirdan
Because I don't read Polish I can't figure out how to see the new scans from the Archives. How do I get into them?
Thanks
Barb

Barbara,

The scans are in Latin. Sadly, the year 1906 is not available. It starts from 1907, accordingly to the book cover (attached).

Thanks Gilberto. It makes me curious why that one year is missing.
