My mom is from Wilno or Dziewieniszki, Poland or Lithuania, she was Born in 1925, I am looking for any relatives I may have in Poland or Lithuania. My mom was taken from her home in 1941 and sent to Germany as forced labor and when liberated in 1945 she never returned.....I have many documents from the Holocaust Museum in Washington DC and from my dads military records that list my moms Mother and Fathers information plus some documents where my moms sister tried to locate her in 1954 and a cousin tried to locate her in 1985 thru 1988. I have a Ancestry account but its not that good at finding records from eastern or central Europe. I found this board and it looks like the members here try to help othere. I will post what Docements I have in hopes someone can translate them and maybe help me find any living relatives I may have. My Moms name was Jeljena Kuklis.....Her married name became Helene Kuklis Moreland.....any help would greatly be appreciated. Thank You for making this board.

Hi,

The attached document is from the Polish Red Cross in 1985, with a request from your Mom's cousin Gajdzis searching her, posted to the German Red Cross.

The postal address of GAJDZIS given in Szczecin was valid in 1985 - born in 1927, he should be 87 years old in 2014.

Several GAJDZIS (22) live in Szczecin today:

Elzbieta

Poles deported by Germans:
Results with Kuklis are 16 with another five duplicates. Most appear to be from the Wilno area.

Total 268 Kuklis, with most obviously resettled after 1945 on previous German territory.

Hi,

This one was very difficult, due to geography, but I have it.
NOTE: there is less than 10 km distance between Dziewieniszki (today Lituania) and Gieranony (today Belarus), but it is in two different countries. After the WWI both were within Wilno area, in Poland, third country.

NOTE: this website might be of interest to search in Kresy (East from the Polish border).
http://www.wastan.pl/biblioteka/

IMPORTANT:
The first record is in Latin, please ask Dave on Latin records translations. What I see is that Constantino Gajdzis (the column on the very right) was a witness to the marriage Wincenty Kuklis with Helena Staniul. The same name - GAJDZIS - as on the Red Cross Document from 1985, with GAJDZIS searching Helena, and stating he is her cousin.

The second record is in Russian Cyrillic, please ask Ryszard/Staripolak on Russian records translations.

I did translate only the very right column, which is in Polish, and which provides information on 2 marriages of Wincenty Kuklis.

Best,
Elzbieta

It's a birth act in Cyrillic of Wincenty Kuklis. Please ask Ryszard/Staripolak on Russian translations.
The right column is in Polish, annotations on the birth act concerning subsequent events in life, such as marriage or death.
Here it is:

1.
Wincenty Kuklis 30 wrzesnia 1923 r. w Dziewień. Kośc. poślub. z Helena Staniul
Prob. Dziew. Kośc. = Pastor of the church in Dziewieniszki
Signature

w Dziewien. Kośc. = w Dziewieniszkowskim Kościele // in the church in Dziewieniszki
poślub. = poślubiony // married

Translated:
30 September 1923: Wincenty Kuklis married Helena Staniul in the church in Dziewieniszki
Pastor of the church in Dziewieniszki
Signature

2.
Wincenty Kuklis wdowiec 7 luty 1926 r. w Gieranonskim Kośc. pośl. z Franciszka Wołkowicz
Prob. Dziew. Kośc. = Pastor of the church in Dziewieniszki

Translated:
