Post subject: help with identifying children s uniform.
The children in the picture (Zofja & Mieczyslaw Baginski) are from Hajnowka Poland in the 1940s.
Why would the children be wearing uniforms?
The soldier is their father (Cezay Baginski) he was born in Lubin Koscielny Bielsk. Can you tell me more about his uniform.
This is Cezary in 1934 with his family (Hajnowka) not sure if he is in the militery then.
Thank you for any thoughts on these photos.

Valerie,
Aga gave you a quick answer, but the history of Polish Harcerze is quite important one.
There is a museum's website, all in Polish
http://muzeumharcerstwa.pl/index.php?option=com_content&view=section&layout=blog&id=8&Itemid=31
But you probably learnt about Szare Szeregi during WWII, "Szare Szeregi" = "Grey Ranks", Polish Harcerze.
Maybe easier to start would be "Kamienie na szaniec" - Stones for the Rampart
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kamienie_na_szaniec
1934, i.e. years before WWII, one shall remember political and social context, Russian terror (Great Purge), people starving to death with no food in the whole area under terror.
In Poland Harcerze / Scouts were everywhere, and they were also fighting together with Polish Soldiers, when WWII started.
In this Polish wiki below, the massacre in Grodno of Polish Army and Polish Harcerze is remembered.

I was making Google search wih "harcerze w 1934", then switched to pictures/images - you have hundreds of old pics, and a long records.
Best,
Elzbieta
