Hi,
My name is Judy Ball(Bal). I am new to this list and am searching my husband's family roots. I am searching in the villages of Czekej, Dobrynia, and Zawadka in Podkarpacie. I am searching the surnames of Bal, Zychowski, Cuila, and Jurkowski. Ilive in Vulcan, Michigan, avillage in the Upper Peninsula, where many families from SE Poland settled to work in the iron mines. The immigrated in the 1890's and early 1900's to the area.
I am willing to assist any one who is researching in the Vulcan area as much as I can.
Judy Ball

Hi Judy, I too am looking for Polish members of the Bal family. My g'father came from the town just to the north. Possibly they are cousins??? What year was your family member born, immigrated and where did he go to first? Did any of them go to Chicopee Mass? My family members lived in Brooklyn, NY.

Hi Judy,

There should be some vital records in Przemysl Catholic Archive from your village.

Regards,
Maciej

Thank you for your suggestion. I will look into how to contact the Archive. My husband's aunt was married to an Orzechowski.
Sincerely,
Judy Ball

I am researching the Jurkowski family tree and would like to connect with others. Im looking in old Galicia- and I'm a member of a family of Jurkowskis of Chicopee/Ludlow/Indian Orchard MA.

Bonjour Guillaume,
There is a Polish surname map which shows how many people had a given surname (I think in 2002). Cuila does not appear on it. About 25 people had the name Ciula. There were 938 who had the surname Ciuła (with an ł instead of an l) http://www.moikrewni.pl/mapa/kompletny/ciu%25C5%2582a.html No one had the name Cuiła. Maybe there were varieties of this surname when your ancestors lived in Poland. Do you have any idea where they were from or when they immigrated to France?
My grandmother immigrated to the U.S., but she had two brothers who immigrated to France, one before the second World War, and one after.
