Post subject: Sanewski, Przelinski, Mundt, Lukritz, Fadel in Prussia
My g-grandparents arrived in Queensland, Australia from Prussia in Feb 1887 aboard the vessel "Roma". Their names were Gottfried Sanewski (also spelled as Saniewski/Sanewska) b1857 and his wife Josephine Johanna (nee Przelinski) b1854, both of Marienwerder, West Prussia. With them travelled their two young sons Johann Paul (b1882 in Rospitz) and Franz Anton (b1885 in Rospitz). They went on to have five daughters in Australia - one of whom was my grandmother Hedwig b 1895.
On the vessel "Roma" was also another couple named Eva (nee Sanewski) & her second husband Adolph Fadel. Eva's first husband Martin Lukritz died prior to 1866 when she married Adolph Fadel in Prussia. Eva and Martin's several children relocated to Australia with Adolph & Eva in 1887.
Info I found stated that 'Adolf Fadel was a Polish man who lived in Marienwerder, a town in what was called the Polish Corridor. He served in the Prussian war (between the French and Prussian), and fought against Napolean. Adolf Fadel received seven medals in this war. Adolf Fadel married Eva Lukritz, a woman who had been previously married. She spoke five different languages. They were Danish, Russian, German x 2, and English. She had five children from her first marriage. They came on a sailing ship that took six months to make the journey.'
I have located other Sanewski descendants who travelled to the US, and the name has been changed by deed poll there to Sanefsky.
According to the documents Gottfried Sanewski brought with him to Australia, his parents were Ludwig Sanewski and Anna Mundt.
Jospehine Johanna Przelinski's parents were Matthias Przelinski and Magdalena Klotkowa?? Magdalena was supposedly born in Greece.
I am searching for additional information on these families prior to their departure from Prussia, and am quite happy to share what I do have so far.

Hello,
I've been looking for any clues to my GG grandfather John Przelenski(1856-1935) and his brother Frank(1862-1904). John arrived with his wife Anna Sonnefeld around 1881 in Wheeling WV. Frank arrived around 1885 and married in Wheeling in 1887. On John and Frank's death certificate, they listed their parents as Michael and Maryanna. I've tracked the Sonnefeld's to West Prussia, but haven't been able to find the Przelenski's. Not sure where in the US your relatives settled. Or if any fits your Przelenski's. In Wheeling, the earliest record I found was in 1882, in the 1st city register. John went by Schauwonski. I found that Prz sounded like Schw supposedly, and that's why it was spelled the way sometimes, the way it sounded. On several delayed birth certificates, and newspaper articles, it shows both spellings.

hi there
not sure that you got my message. My GGgrandmother was Wilhelmine Salomon nee Sanewski. I thought that Gottfried was her brother, but they must have been cousins, I have photos of them when first arrived in Australia and also with my great grandmother in their later years. Wilhelmine's parents were Samuel Sanewski and Louise Wilefschski. Any additional information about this family if you have it would be greatly appreciated.
Where is Rospitz?
James
