I have a question about a strange occurance in an ancestors name over various records. The translations as follows:

1868 Wedding

In the year one thousand eight hundred
sixty eight on the fourth of February in the Suderwy Roman Catholic parish church by Reverend Father Ksawery Janiszewski, after three readings of the banns, the first one on the 2nd of February, the second and the third on the 4th of February, in the presence of people assembled for the liturgy.

Peasant Wincenty Michalkiewicz, a widower, 32 years old, with Anna Narkiewicz alias [?] Swirkowska, a maiden, 20 years old, both from the village of Dombrowciszki from the parish of Suderwy, after conducting beforehand a strict examination in writing of both parties on the impediments to marriage, and after discovering none, and also after their expression of mutual agreement by both parties by outward signs

Son of peasants Marcin and Marcjanna nèe Subotowicz the Michalkiewiczes, legally married couple with daughter of Jozefata Narkiewicz born out of wedlock, [I] united them in marriage in the eyes of the church before credible witnesses peasants: Jozef Jodelkon [?], Jan and Jozef Michalkiewicz, Wojciech Subotowicz, Jozef Zapolski, Maciej Sakowicz.

2. 1870 Baptism of son Wincenty

In the year one thousand eight hundred seventy
on the twenty ninth of May in the Syderwa
Roman Catholic church a child was baptized with the name of Wincenty by Reverend Father Ksawery Janiszewski, with all the rites of the sacrament

Son of peasants Wincenty and Anna nèe Swirkowska the Michalkiewiczes, legally married couple, born in the current year on the twenty seventh of May in the village of Dombrowciszki in this parish

Godparents were peasants Michal Subotowicz with Marianna Michalkiewicz, a maiden.

Notice on the marriage it lists her maiden name as Narkiewicz alias Swirkowska. yet a mere 2 year late her maiden name is listed just as Swirkowska. Also intersting to note is Ryzard's translations of 2 later sons (1875,1878) list her maiden name as Narkiewicz.

Can anybody give me an ideaas why the two names then one name then the other name alone??

Hugh
