Good Morning Zenon,
I have finally recieved the marriage Registration of my Great Grandparents. Paul pawluk and Catherine Motkowski. He cam e to Canada 1911 and she came 1903, both came from Galacia,Austria. I now have Places of birth but I cannot make them out, as well as his parents names. I was wondering if I could scan it and you would help me with the names? This is a major break through for me and I don't want to get these names wrong! I am attaching the document(PDF).My email is [email protected]
Thanks Tracy Pepin

Hello Tracy,

For me and my wife the Paul (or Polish Paweł) came from Czortków in today's Ukraine and in that time Eastern Galicia, while Catharina (or Katarzyna) Matkowski came from Wola Gnojnicka near Rzeszów. Click here: http://bit.ly/96gO3I to see distance between both places on the google map.

Now, if you want to continue your search, the next question is about religion of your great-grandparents. In both towns there lived together roman-catholics, greek-catholics and Jewish.

I know they are both were both Roman Catholic. Are you able to make out his parents names, I thinks his is Marik Pawluk and I can make out Mary but not the last name. My Vision isn't the best. This has been my biggest break in finding out about my Polish side and it's very exciting.

Parents of Paweł Pawluk were (most probably): Marek Pawluk and Mary Newerecka (?).

Parents of Catharina Matkowska: Józef Matkowski and Mary Wolańska.

I have yet to figure out who this brother is but having the parents proper names should be a great help. Thank you Zenon
