Does anyone have any information regarding the origin/history/meaning/etc of the surname Laszczkowska? Just found out my great-great grandmother's name, Ewa Laszczkowska from the village of Ławsk.

Hi Lecount,

Laszczkowski, or (female) Laszczkowska from Polish las - „forest, woods”, or from laszczka - "stick, rod".

In 2002 there were only 164 men and 228 women people using the surname Laszczkowski/Laszczkowska, concentrated mainly in the north east part of today's Poland. Detailed maps of the surname distribution can be found here https://nazwiska-polskie.pl/Laszczkowski .
