Hi all,

I'm trying to find more information on Abraham Kaczka, and how I'm related to him.

I know a lot about his descendents, but none about his ancestors or where he came from.

I think I'm related to him, but don't know how! This is because one of my ancestors lived on the same street as him in London, and it's a very unusual surname).

My Kaczka ancestors came from Piotrkow in Poland, but nothing comes up about him on JRI Poland, my usual source for this kind of thing.

I have a death certificate for him which says he died in London in 1927 - there's an inquest which I don't have yet, but guessing this won't help much.

I know he had at a child (Alexander) in Russia or Poland in 1877 so it's likely he was married there, probably around that time.

Nothing comes up about Alexander on JRI either, and no births in Piotrkow for 1877.

I guess it's possible Abraham changed his name on entry to the UK, but it would be surprising as I know normally people changed their name to something obviously English?

Any advice would be really helpfully received, especially on any advice about whether he might have had a different name in Poland or Russia?

Kaczka is Polish for Duck. It is a rare Polish last name. There are 2 Piotrków towns, both in the
Lodzkie Voivodeship. They are Piotrków Trybunalski, Poland or Piotrków Kujawski, Poland.
I looked at an online data base for the Lodzkie Voivodeship. There were 126 Kaczka births of which there were no Aleksander's. Of course the data base is not complete.
There is a person on MyHeritage that has 15 Kaczka's in his genealogy. Perhaps he can help.

That is all I have. Good Luck.

Louis and Conrad

Piotrkow Kujawski is not in lodzkie; it is in kujawsko-pomorskie.
Piotrkow may refer to the gubernia Piotrkow (includes part of lodzkie and part of slaskie)
