Here is what I know about my ascendants.
I live in Oravská Polhora, Slovakia. There are many Vorčáks in my village, we are not even a family. We have been searching for ascendants for a year. We know that Stephanus Vorcsak (our surname was written like Vorcsak, Worcsak etc) married to Sophia Kitka in 1802 in Rabča (our village did not have a church at the time, we have had a church since 1970, we belonged to a parish in Rabča). We think, dont have exact proof from archives, that he had at least one son Joannes, who married to Roza Kvasniak. They both had 5 sons (Paulus, Joannes, Stephanus, Joszef, Martinus) and 3 daughters (Anna, Catharina, Helena). Paulus is my direct ascendant, he married 3 times, died early 1900´s. Helena married to someone from Lipnica (dont know if Mala or Wielka). Would be great to have records of marrieges from Lipnica or birth of their descendants. Helena Vortsak from Polhora married to Ignatius (dont know surname) at 3 Feb 1867. Rest of Joannes and Roza sons and daughters married within my village. As Zubrzyca Dolna belonged to hungarian Orawa (Árva in hungarian) region and there were Vorcsek (or Vorcsak) family in 1767 (Maria Theresa Urbarium), we think that Stephanus might come from Zubrzyca Dolna to Oravská Polhora (only Polhora at the time). There was no Vorcsak in Polhora according to Maria Theresa Urbarium (or they are not written in books for some unknown reason). It is strange that Vorcsak were not in ZUbrzyca Dolna in hungarian census 1715, I dont know why.
edit:
there is record of Helena Vortsak and Ignatius from Lipnicza marriage, they married in Rabča, but I was not able to find any of their descendants in Oravská Polhora. Her husband lived in Lipnicza no. 428, he was 23 at the day of marriage.
Would be great if anybody to help me with my research.

I need records of baptism, marriage and deaths from 1700s-1800s, so I emailed to parish in Zubrzyca Dolna. They recommended me to contact parish in Orawka (church since 1651), Zubrzyca Gorna (church since 1714) or Podwilk (church since 1687). Unfortunatelly I have not been able to find email adress to these parishes. Anybody help? Is it possible that parish records from 1700s-1800s are still available in local church, not in state archive?

Hey,
I'm an American, but I think I might be descended from Stephanus too. My grandmother's family was from Polhora, here's the oldest picture I have of that side of the family. She's the little girl on the right and the baby is her sister Teresa. Her parents are Anton Simurdiak and Helena Plevjak, they immigrated with their daughters to the U.S. in 1930. Helena's parents were Jan Plevjak and Teresa Vorcsak and Teresa's were Jan Vorcsak and Helena Talaga. I put their baptism records at the bottom of the page. If you're right than I think my 3rd great grandfather Jan Vorcsak might be Paulus' brother Joannes.
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to make much progress on this side of my family, but I'd love to collaborate and see if we can come up with anything!
