Post subject: Stubno, Hruszowice
I have been attempting to trace my mother's family roots in Galicia. I have little documentation for anything. My great grandparents left Europe from Hamburg before WWI.
Marriages all seemed to happen in Stubno, but I eventually found an emmigration record for one of my great-uncles which gave his contact at origin as another great-uncle, Dmytro Zyga in Hruszowice.
It would seem history has not been kind to Hruszowice, in that it really no longer exists.
Is there anywhere I might look for records for this area? The church of the village was apparently burned in the 1940s.
If it helps, the family is listed as Greek Catholic in most Canadian census. Their ethnic origins are listed, usually, as Ruthenian.
Are those clues?
