Someone was helpful in telling me how to more accurately spell the Polish-version of my great-grandfather's name, so I'm hoping someone can help me with my great-grandmother.
American documents show her name as Sophia Drust. She is likely Polish like my great-grandfather, to share a language and culture and all even though they met in the USA.
Any thoughts/leads you can provide for this surname would be so helpful! Also, her first name - Sofia? Zofia? How would it be spelled in Polish records?
Drust surname is definitely not a typical Polish one. I searched Hoffman's "Polish surnames" to find the origins of it. There are no Drust surnames, however I think that it might be the variation of surname Druzd (coming from Polish word drozd - thrush bird. Or maybe Drys, Dryś (Polish surnames of German origins).
