Hi, Elzbieta,

I'm sorry to add to your workload, but I just discovered my great-great-great-grandmother's death record and was hoping you could translate it. Hopefully it isn't too hard to read!

What I find most fascinating is that Marcjanna Krol Gielicz and her mother, Lucja Gierkoska, are recorded as being witnesses at the births of numerous illegitimate children. I am also trying to find Marcjanna's birth record, because so far I do not think her parents were married.

The simpliest idea is that both were midwifes. One word is this death record is interesting, Marcyanna is said "obywatel", citizen. This word is used to describe a free person (as opposed, for example, to peasants serfs in some regions).

Thank you so much, Elzbieta!

This must mean that the Lucya Gierkowska in later records is not Marcjanna's mother, but was the midwife mentioned. I also found Jakob Krol married to another woman - unless Lucya died before 1814, then Marcjanna's father cannot be the Jakob Krol in the Lądek records. I don't know where to find the Lipno/Lipnica records, but this explains why I could not find her birth record in Lądek.

It's possible that there may still be a connection, however, considering that Marcjanna married two men both born in Lądek and there were Gierkoski/Gierkowski family members residing in the same village.

Just to clarify, could you translate Marcjanna Krol's first marriage to Kazimierz Kaminski? I thank you.

Best,
Hannah

Hey Elzbieta,

I'm hoping you can helping me out with these Polish translations, the older they get, the harder it is for me to figure out what it says.

I know the first document is Jan Miechowicz and Jozefa Bieniek from 1862. The second document is Wojciech Ciepielewski and Paulina Kotowska from 1858.

I really appreciate it.

Jerry,

Here is Jan Miechowicz and Jozefa Bieniek from 1862, a little more complicated.

Best,

Hannah,

Here it is.
Re: "Marcjanna Krol Gielicz and her mother, Lucja Gierkoska, are recorded as being witnesses at the births of numerous illegitimate children"
The simpliest idea is that both were midwifes. One word is this death record is interesting, Marcyanna is said "obywatel", citizen. This word is used to describe a free person (as opposed, for example, to peasants serfs in some regions).

Best,
Elzbieta

Best,
Hannah

Hannah,

Here is the first marriage of Marcyanna. Please note she signs.
The name of her birth's place is Lipnica (Lipno was my typo, trying to find the name from adjective, and a little tired).
My guess is that is shall be within the same voievodship Wielkopolskie, north of Slupca - but it is guess only (lipa=linden tree, very popular name):
Lipnica,+Ostrowite,+Poland/Słupca,+Poland/Lądek,+Poland/Sługocin,+Poland/Wyszyna,+Poland

Oh thank you Elzbieta for the recent translations for 2 distinct records that mentioned 'Jan Tylicki'. This cleared up a questions I have had for quite awhile. I now understand how ALL of the mentioned parties are related. THANKS much.

Another Ługowski/Tylicka marriage...these 2 families really stuck together through the years. Smile

I am looking for the names and birthdates of my grandfather's (Stanley Adam Bolesta) father's ( Adam Bolesta) generation.
My grandfather arrived in the USA in 1912 and lived with an uncle Nicholas Bolesta around Larksville Pennsylvania near Scranton Pa. He worked in the coal mines until he joined the service in World War I.

There are lots of Bolesta in the Scranton. Larksville area. We just can't figure out if we are related or not. I think we have to get back to Adam's generation to see if we have a common link. I am hoping that you or someone you know might be able to provide information that might assist.

There may be burial details that would list family members of the deceased.

Is there someone who could translate my grandfathers birth certificate?
thanks
ROn Bolesta

Dear Elżbieta,
You are a real treasure for those of us tracing our Polish genealogy. Your translation of the marriage of Antoni Czaplicki to Domicela Roman was enlightening. I have Domicila's father, Józef, passing away in 1812. Could you please translate her mother, Józefa Roman's marriage to Jozef Jabłonowski in 1813. It might make sense of the wording of the marriage record of Antoni Czaplicki to Domicela Roman.
Thank you,
Conrad

Elzbieta, I have found several documents that I need translated. I believe a death doc. for Aniela (Pawyza) Sobala, birth record for a Brigida Pawyza? and a Franciszek not sure if this is a Pawyza. My eyes are starting to cross trying to pick out the name from documents I can not read. Please do the best you can, when time allows. Thank you in advance.
Christine

Christine,

Franciszek is not Pawyza. Neither Brigida.

Here it is,

Best,
Elzbieta
