Hello,
In tracing my family's origins I've found that my great grandmother's maiden name was Franciska Kowalska (b.1825 est.) She married my great grandfather Jan Grochowski (b.1824 est.) in 1852 in Krostkowo PL. I believe the church may have been St Nicholas.

So in my search I've come across the name of St. Faustina Kowalska. From information I find on the internet, St. Faustina Kowalska came from an area not too distant from Krostkowo. It would be interesting to determine if she is related in some way to our Franciska Kowalska. From what I understand she came from a large family and had several sisters. I have no further information.

Can anyone assist in determining where St. Faustina Kowalska originated and how to proceed in determining whether she would have been related to the Kowalski family of Krostkowo?

St. Maria Faustina Kowolska was born in 1905 in Glogowiec (Lodz region of Poland)

Thanks Mary Ann for the response and info.

Do you have info as to how or where we can locate documents such as birth records, census records etc.
We have found church record of marriage for Francesca Kowalska and Jan Grochowski but would like to be
able to determine who Franceska's parents were, as well as where their families originated to help determine if
our Franceska was related to St Faustina's family.

Kowalska is a pretty common name in Poland with #71,158 people listed on the Moikrewni.pl site.

Krostkowo is in the Greater, Pl Voivodeship and is a small village of about #395 people. It is considered as being located in West Central Poland.

St. Faustina was from Glogowiec in the Lodz Voivodeship in Central Poland.

Let "Google" be your companion and you can google these locations to learn more about them and see for yourself where they are located on the maps.
There are many informative articles online about St. Faustina and you can get acquainted with her family history to see if you see any possible connections. In the past I have seen Family Trees of well known individuals posted online-perhaps you will stumble upon one for her.
However, she was born in 1905 and your Gr. Grandmother was born in about 1825-so to be able to even consider a connection with St. Faustina, it will be necessary for you to Know not only your direct ancestors above you but also the lines of each of their siblings on your great Grandmother's side. THEN you will need to also know the Ancestor's and the sibling lines of St. Faustina.
So your First step is to find your GGrandparents marriage record IN Poland, so you can learn her parents names.
If you are located in the U.S. you can check with the LDS Church to see if they have films from Krostkowo, Pl. You can call your local LDS church and I'm sure they will tell you who to contact, unless someone else on P/O can give you an easier way to find out.
Other options are to contact the Polish Archives that cover Krostkowo and request the marriage record. Or you can try writing to St. Nicholas Church in Krostkowo,Pl. to request information. Each of these options require perseverance and patience as well as knowledge about payment options and possible Polish translations.
Another option would be to hire a Polish researcher that covers the region where Krostkowo is located. You can inquire on this Forum for referrals. Researchers can vary but some are willing to do limited projects and you may find it affordable and a good use of time to just get the job done through someone who is knows how to request the information and knows how and where to go about getting it.
