Sikora is from a kind of bird, sikora is in Polish “titmouse”.

This is also one of the oldest Polish surnames. First documented person bearing this surname was Piotr Sikora (Petrus Szicora) from Kelczowa Wola (mentioned in 1389 in the court records from Kraków).

In the old Poland there was a noble family of Sikora in Sandomierz district, mentioned in 1460.
