My GGF was Wincenty T Gramza born Feb 1861 in Novahatem, Poland. He came to the states in 1880 & moved to Chicago. He married a Josephine Bozych (?) also from Poland, we think born in 1864 in Posen. She came to the US in 1872. They married at St Ladislaus Church in Chicago in 1882. I have found many Gramzas coming in from Posen between 1880-1882. If you have any info or hints as to who their ancestors were, we'd love to know.

Thanks,
M

Margaret,

Do you have any documents where the place of birth of Wincenty is recorded, which you could upload here? Novahatem seems to be distorted word of the original place name.

I have one Grams in my database. She and several more lived in Krosno and Bobrowniki. Krosno more than Bobrowniki. Krosno is just east of Wagrowiec off of Highway 241 toward Czeszewo.

dnmallen -

I've found a piece of information which probably confirms Ute's assumption that Vincent Gramza and Josephine Gramza is the Josephine you're looking for. Hope this information is helpful to you. It does provide you two new names - parents of Josephine Bozych

Vincent and Josephine are my GG-GF and GG-GM.
