Tom & Roger,

A minor but important point... The first two surviving children do not have the same name. The first is Marcyanna (sometimes spelled Marcjanna) and the second is Maryanna (the old spelling) or Marianna (current spelling). Marcyanna/Marcjanna (Latin: Martiana) is the feminine form of the masculine given name Marcin/Martin. The English version is Martine.

Hope this clarifies two easily confused given names---one extremely common and the other much less common.

Thanks Dave, for your input it is much appreciated

Please translate the 2nd marriage of widower Michał Budny who was born in Bachorce of Piotr and Maryanna Budny. Does this record give information about the date and place of death of the first wife Agnieska as marriages of widowers/widows often do?

Thank you,

Marilyn

No. 8. Zakowice. It came to pass on the eleventh day of February in the year of one thousand eight hundred and fifty, at the hour of nine in the morning, in Koscielna Wies.

We make known that today, in the presence of witnesses Jozef Matuszewski, fifty-six years of age, and Tomasz Brzezinski, forty years of age, both of them being day-labourers residing in Zakowice, the religious matrimony has been entered into by Michal Budny, widower of the deceased Agnieszka, a shepherd in Szamszyce, residing in Zakowice, born in Bachorka, the son of Piotr and Maryanna, forty-nine years of age, and Maryanna Lewandoski, a day-labouress, widow of Jan deceased in Ozdoba in the year of one thousand eight hundred and forty-eight, residing in Zakowice, born in Swiatniki, the daughter of Wojciech and Maryanna, forty years of age. The said matrimony had been preceded by the triple proclamation of banns in Koscielna Wies Parish, namely, on the twenty-seventh day of January, as well as on the third and tenth day of the current month of the current year. No objections had been raised by anyone to contracting the matrimony. The newlyweds had not made any premarital agreement. The verbal consent of the newlyweds had occurred.

The present certificate was read aloud to the appearers and subsequently signed, albeit, since they did not know how to write, solely by myself.

Thank you for the translation of the 2nd marriage of my ancestor's brother that is full of detailed information about his place of birth Bachorce (that I know to be in Piaski parish), his place of work, and his residence. The information is much appreciated because it relates to the marriages of two of his children nearby in 1851 and 1855. The puzzle pieces are coming together.

Regards,
Marilyn

Lublin
Parish of St Nicholas (Sw. Mikołaj)
Birth certificate #129 http://szukajwarchiwach.pl/35/1861/0/2.4/38/skan/full/qnl8EIiYVjHZYan6MeL4RA
It happened in the city of Lublin on Thursday 16th October 1845 at 6pm. There appeared Andrzej Zienkiewicz, father of the child, fireman, 49 years old, residing in Kalinowszczyzna (comment - now a suburb of Lublin), accompanied by Jan Zołnierowicz , 40 years old, and Stanisław Rybicki , mason/bricklayer?, 40 years old, and presented us a male child, born on the 14th of this month and year at 9am in Kalinowszczyzna by his wife Franciszka nee Skowrońska, 26 years old. At the holy baptism held today the child was given the name Piotr (Peter), and his godparents were Mateusz Kłos and Marianna Siczek. This certificate was read to those present, and was only signed by us, because the father and the witnesses do not know how to write.

I managed to find the marriage of Andrzej Zienkiewicz and Franciszka Skowrońska. It was record #52 on 18 September 1842 in the Lublin parish of Sw. Jana.
