I have been researching my husband's genealogy for several years. Very successful on his American side, very unsuccessful on his Polish side until very recently. The breakthrough came when I stumbled across a Social Security application from his Grandfather that told us he had been born in Kalinowa near Warsaw; not near Krakow as we had been led to believe by his son, my husband's father. From Geneteka I was able to then find their records for three further generations! Easy-peasy. Now I am questioning that his Grandmother came from the south. Have suddenly realized that she and her two brother did not actually give Laskowinki ( what Ellis Island thought) as thier home, but it was actually Ruskoleka, again in the north, and wouldn't you know it just five miles from Kalinowo. Now I need to track down Maty s and Oscilowski s from Stara Ruskoleka and unfortunately the parish records do not seem to be available, not in English anyway... There do seem to be townsfolk of that name still in the village, is it advisable to try to contact them?

Also has anyone heard of a place called Czerwalaskowia? Or someone named Flisan Kropalski?

I would appreciate any input or advice,

Lilli
