I have a Katarzyna Byczek born either 1873 or 1875 (the last digit is unclear) at Szymbark, northern Poland, near Gdansk and Gdynia. She migrated to the U.S. in 1904, went to Cleveland, Ohio, married a widower named Hajduk. But I've got no idea if other Byczeks migrated from that same part of Poland.

My paternal grandmother was Franciszka Buczek born in Cholewiana Gora 1884. She immigrated to Passaic, NJ in 1898. Yesterday I finally found a brother, Tomasz. The others I found are more likely cousins. They seem to be a very large group, with other cousins named Pirog and Koc- her mother was Pirog. Grandmother Koc. These spellings were documented on a birth/baptismal certificate that I have. also found Buczek in Nowy Targ where my maternal grandmother, Mary Zych, was from. I assumed the variation in spelling was either done in translation or the like.

Byczek and Buczek are different names, pronounced differently. All the records that I've found show the Byczek spelling.
