I have found Rosalie Szafranska listed in this 1812 Birth index from the Parish of Grylewo and it says page 7. On Page 7 their are three birth records, two named Rosalie and one named Michael. I can usually make out names pretty well, but I can not seem to make out which entry is Rosalie Szafranska. Can someone please help me translate.

Kurt,

The birth record of Rozalia Szafrańska is in Polish and is the second on your post. I’m attaching the crop. It is in typical Napoleonic long paragraph form mandated by Napoleon for the Duchy of Warsaw, which he created. Here are the facts without the excess verbage,

Date & Location of Record: Aug 30, 1812 in Grylewo

Father & Informant: Szymon Szafrański, age 42, farmer residing in Grylewo

Mother: Anna nee Kmieciak, age 28

Child: Rozalia, born in house #6 in Grylewo on August 24, 1812

Witnesses: Piotr Czerwinski, age 24, valet/footman at the manor house, and Walenty Sikora, age 33, farmer; both residing in Grylewo

Record concludes with the usual formula that the record was signed only by the priest because the others don’t know how to write.

I’ll translate the Latin records from Galicia in the next few days as time permits.

Hope this helps your research.

Dave

Hi,

Could I get a translation for this marriage record? The record is for Maciej Piorkowski and Jozefa Wozniak and it is record #22. It continues on the right side of the page.

Thank you,

You already received this, I apologize.

46. {continued from previous page} in the year of one thousand eight hundred and fifty-six, at the hour of one in the afternoon. We make known that today, in the presence of witnesses Walenty Putrak, thirty years of age, and Adam Opalak, thirty years of age, both farmers from Jednorozec, the matrimony has been religiously contracted between Walenty Sobieraj, a groom, the son of the Sobierajs, namely of the married couple Jozef, already deceased, and still living Apolonia nee Gwiazda, born and staying beside his mother in Jednorozec, twenty-four years of age, and the maiden Katarzyna Kut, the daughter of the Kuts, namely of the married couple Piotr and Katarzyna nee Nowodko, neither of them alive anymore, born and staying in Jednorozec beside her brother, twenty-two years of age. The aforementioned matrimony had been preceded by the triple proclamation of banns, namely on the twenty-ninth day of June, as well as on the sixth and thirteenth day of July, of the current year, in the Parish of Chorzele. No objections had been raised. The newlyweds declare that they had not made any premarital agreement {the rest was missed out when the actual copy of the record was being made}.
