Post subject: CHMIELNIK (VILLAGE, not town)-- near Rzsezow
FILIP
My maternal grandmother, Agnieuzka (Agata/Agnes) Filip (c. 1885) came from this village of Chimielnik (just southeast of Rzeszow). Later, immigrated, maried, and settled in Pennsylvania.
Any connection with this surnames and/or historical or current input about Chmielnik village would be welcomed. Thank you.

Hi PaniKohani,
What else can you tell us about your Filip ancestors? Did your grandmother Agnes Filip marry before or after she came to America? Was Filip her maiden name? It would be helpful if you can tell us what you already know so other members don't spend time to find info that you already have.
Have you requested her Social Security Application?
Did she apply for naturalization?
Does she have any brothers that you can research for birthplace?
I look forward to hearing back from you!

Hi Shellie,
O.K. thanks for your response and advice. Yes, I couldv'e/should've been more specific with what is already known about the Filip surname/family line. And, I would also like to turn this pleasurabel geneological task over-- in turn-- to a relation who is actually doing far more research on the Filip family surname than I have done. Her name is, Ruth Filip (she is the wife to one of Agata's grandsons). I've already (just recently) informed her about this PolishOrigin's website (sending the Rszeszow/Chmielnik links) and she was excited to read them, as she's hoping to investigate in further detail, and hopefully, she will join in, here, and share what she knows re: the Filip family.
Otherwise, I will try to answer your queries with what I've come to learn already. Meantime, thanks for your helpful reply.
